New Prompt- 4-21-2008

Can you believe that April is *almost* over. It's so crazy to me how fast time seems to past. Awesome stuff, last time around! Thanks for playing along. The new prompt is:

Shopping Tags!

It seems like shopping tags these days seem to be cuter than the clothes themselves. They are SUPER easy to use and add a little pop and interest to a layout or project. And yes, this is a definite excuse to go shopping ;)

I was so lucky to have the very amazing and talented Kimberly Brimhall. Kim has a scrap style that is so unique and gorgeous. I am so honored to have her Guest Design for The Art is Found. Here is what she has to say about her beautiful layout and project. Her work totally blows me away.

Hey everyone...for this prompt I used items from my shopping trip to Forever 21...I used the clothing tags as embellishments and as the theme for my page. It is amazing that a little tag can inspire an entire page. I also made a little flower using the Forever 21 receipt...I just cut it in half and made two halves and stapled them together. I had one tag left and decided to use the barcode to fill in empty space. This was a great prompt...it definitely allows you to see the art in everything...even the small things...even things that you would usually trash.

I just LOVE all the purple and blue. She totally flipping rocked this prompt. Thanks, missy!!!

AND, she make this amazing card-sized to keep in her purse. It is so gorgeous!!

I really love all th etrimming and use of barcodes. So cool. I will try to get a link to the rest of the pages later.

Here is my project. I made a little mini about my favorite current things. I used a variety of different shopping tags-- forever 21, urban outfitters, twelve by twelve, billabong.

A mini Mini like this is totally easy. You can use a book ring to hold everything together, I used some of the brown string that we had laying around.

Here is the cover and a few of my favs "pages", to see the rest, Go Here.

See? Totally easy to do! Maybe make a page about your favorite stores or a shopping addiction. Or you could use them simply as an embellishment.

Don't forget to link them up here so we can check out your awesomeness and add 'em to the flickr group, if you hang out there.

Oh, and if you all have some flipping awesome prompt ideas I would LOVE to hear them. I have notebook pages full, but am thinking I may need some inspiration. Feel free to comment here or you can pm me through SISTV, comment on my regular blog, or through flickr. Thank you all!

New Prompt 4-7-2008

Wow! You all had some amazing projects from the Tickets prompt! I love to see people playing along, it's great! I am so excited about this next prompt. I had so much fun doing it and am thrilled for our amazing Guest Designer this time around. :D Without further ado, the next prompt:

Board Books!

You know those fat "cardboard" children's books? Yep, they are so fun, cheap, and super EASY. Raid your kid's unused books or run to the thrift store(I picked mine up for 25 cents each).

They are super fun and easy to alter. You gesso or sandpaper down the pages and paint. Or just cover them with paper and sandpaper the edges. I had so much fun with this prompt, I love making mini-books.
And I'm very excited to have the amazing Miss Gigi Kennedy Guest Design!

Hi everyone!! My name is Gigi Kennedy. I live just North of New York City with my husband, Mike, my three littlekids, Kelly, Ryan and Kate and my boxer, Ryatt.

I'm honored to be a Fashionista at Scrap in Style TV and a member of the Creative Team at One Little Word. My work has also been published in Simple Scrapbooks Magazine.

These days I'm really into collage & re-purposing ephemera, vintage items and textiles into my art as well as creating "beyond the page", which is why i'm SO psyched to be the guest this week at The Art Is Found. I'm really loving incorporating art into my everyday, rather than have it secluded in the scrapbook. Can't wait to see what everyone does with Board Books!!!

Gigi is one of my most favorite scrapping artists. Her work is so beautiful and real. I LOVE her project. It's a little peak into her amazingness.

Nothing short of absolutely amazing! Totally awesome. Thanks a million, Gigi!
Here is my project:
I decided to make a project about Words. Words that I need to hear over and over again. Important advice. I LOVED making this. I've already looked through and over this a couple times and it just makes me smile. More detailed explanation of the pages is on my personal blog. *Will be up on Tuesday probably*

****For some reason the widget from SISTV is not working. I'll have that worked out tomorrow. You can see it here ****

I'll try to get the rest of my mini-album up later, there were a lot. :}

You can approach this however you would like. Consider a small book or a bigger one with more pages. Think how much fun you could have with those "pop-up" books!
Making a book about you're favorite things, inspiring magazine clipping, an event, a specific day, a person, your kids, whatever! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Just as a reminder, there is really no "time frame" to do one of the prompts. Let it inspire you whenever. Every two weeks there is a prompt posted so you can have that long if you like to work that way.
Post your links here and add them to flickr group. :D
