walk pictures

Hey guys...Kimmie here...it's my first time ever posting so I am super happy to be doing it today!
Now for the good stuff...This week's prompt missies is:

Walk Pictures

It's not like the regular prompts, where you use the actual thing on your page. Go on
a walk, urban or in the woods. Take note of the small details, find things on the ground. Take photos.
Maybe use a lot of "white space" in the photo. Get a large print of it, OR you could do smaller 5x7's. And create your art, right on the photo. That's why white space might work. You are welcome to do whatever you want. A mini might be cool, or art journal, or layout, or even home decor. Journal about whatever you want on your picture. Maybe about your walk, your thoughts surrounding your work, feelings, whatever! Get creative:)

This week's RAK is a journal made by Kara!

This week's guest designer is the amazingly lovely and talented Debee Campos.

She has the most eclectic yet graphic style with every project full of bits and pieces of art. We are so lucky to have her ...her project is this awesome little mini of her photos from her "walk". Thanks Debee for a wonderful project!

Also, we chose one winner for the last prompt to receive the journal made by Mandi. We had Mandi's "Phil" be our random number generator, and he picked #24! So congratulations Kelly, aka kayakgrl! Send Mandi your address and she will send it out to ya... graycandibear[at]yahoo.com

Thanks for hanging out with us!

Hey, Kara here!

And, bear with me, I am *this* close to violently attacking blogger. Watch out.

It's so pretty and fresh around here, no? I love checking in here and and admiring it. Thank you again, Mandi!

Let's see.... Can you believe June is halfish over? Yeah, I cannot. Allright, now to what you wannna see.

The new prompt is:

Magazine/Catalog Images!

This is a prompt I am super excited about. I LOVE working with catalog and magazine images. They add so much.

Use the actual picture as your picture for the page. Look out for fun patterns and textures to use like you would patterned paper. Find words and phrases that pop out to you and use them like titles. Use a whole page as a background.

All types of art are welcome. Minis, layout, ATC, art journalling, home decor, mixed media collage, paitning. Maybe frame a bunch of your fav magazine images. Maybe an ode to Johnny Depp. Whatever. :)

I am super excited to announce the Guest Designer for this prompt, the fabulous miss Amber Ulmer. Amber is SUPER sweet and she was so excited for the prompt, made me smile. Her artwork is beautiful and I was so glad to have her talent on the blog.

Here is her UH-mazing layout-

Beautiful and bright, no? Thanks, Amber!

Let's see.... Kimmie and Rhi are off globe trotting. Little jerks. ;) BUT, check back next prompt and we'll have everybody. Maybe. :)

A layout I made a few days ago, with a catalog picture.

And sometime I am going to get around to posting the mini I've been making. I can't get my act together and my room is in a state of mass chaos due to painting. It'll be up sometime soon. :)

I do not care.

Here is Mandi's (per usual!), frickin' awesome mini-

Awesome, right? Want it? ;)

Mandi is giving this gorgeous mini off to our favorite "prompter". Make some ART, post it up, and get in the running for this pretty. So, get on it!

Don't forget to check back in on the 30th, for another prompt and prettiness! I LOVE this prompt, so excited!

Oh, and thank you all for the awesome participation last go-round! Awesome stuff!

EDITED: Here is my (Kara) mini! Finally uploaded. More can be seen on my SIS. Thanks!

So this ONE time.... Mini *The Art is Found*

Hey! My name is Kara. I started this challenge blog in March of 2008. It is something I feel passionately about and love the inspiration that it holds. Over time I've kept adding to my dream team. My lovely girls
I am super excited to have Mandi, Rhi-Pants, Ashley Wren and, of course, Kimberly. These lovely ladies are a sampling of my favorite artists and online friends. They all bring such excitemet, talent, and uniqueness to the team. I am thrilled to have some more help around these parts and to give readers some more amazing inspiration.
Every prompt we have a new, surprise Guest Designer in addition to the permanent girls.
Here's a little sampling into the lives and thoughts of the TAIF Girls--

How long have you been creating art?

i'm fickle. some days it will be paint, others it will be sewing, others yes it will be a pen and paper. it changes each and every day, with each of my many moods and passions.

Your biggest source of inspiration?

Trees, books, music, fairies, emo-ness, friends, skype conversations, indie styles, other peoples conversations, the crazy that goes on in my head, sheer randomness.

Tell us a little about yourself-

I'm just a girl in the world who likes to make things...share things with her dear friends...go above the standard for her family...take photos...take her time...love and be loved.I have an opinionated yet perfect husband.

I have two free-spirited, never-stop, genius children.

I love painted hands, crumpled paper, ink smears and stale flamin hot cheetos.I am constantly trying to evolve, get organized, and shut my mouth.I walk on the wild-side from time to time only to fall into a safe haven of a home.I love art...and so far it has loved me...that's all I can ask for.

How long have you been creating art?

I would say as long as I could hold a paint brush and pen. I have been writing since I was too young to even know what I was writing...and painting has always been a bit of a release for me. I have done so many types of art from writing, sewing, painting, embroidery, drawing...it has been my life.

What is your favorite type of creative expression? Like painting, scrapbooking, art journalling, etc...

Writing is my favorite type of expression...be it on a scrapbook page, a journal page, a blog entry...I love all types. I believe that the writing lingers longer than any other form...after the trendy papers and colors have faded...the writing stand strong.

Your biggest source of inspiration?

My biggest source of inspiration would have to be books...magazines...and the internet. In books, I find new ways of thinking and feel it broadens my box. In magazines, I find visual inspiration, whether it is the colors or the textures or the graphics...some of my faves are Pottery Barn...Skirt.com...flickr is amazing as well!

Your blog?

My blog is my safe haven...I am a blogger first and it has been a wonderful expressive outlet for me over the last 3 years...http://kimberlybrimhall.typepad.com

Your favorite arty product?

My favorite product would have to be ribbon and photoshop...I love the many uses for ribbon. And with photoshop you can make your photos better...create your own embellishments and letters.

Your go-to technique or thing you love to do?

I love the take paint to the edges of my scrapbook pages...almost all of them have them...almost like a little frame to finish it up.I also love letter writing...to any and everything...Dear_____

What is one random fact that you feel the world should know about you?

Sometimes I don't wash my hair but every three days:)
