WoOt! It's almost Summer(for me!) and I am so beyond excited that school is almost over for me. Seems a long time coming.

Now to what you really want to hear! The next prompt is:

Envelopes!

Super simple, right? Envelopes are totally fun and versatile. Feel free to use huge ones, little ones, brand new ones, old ones, cool postmarked ones, whatever! I'm all about whatever. :)

Envelopes are a great way to include hidden journalling, random epherema. Maybe rethink vellum envelopes and go crazy with sequins!

Use a large envelopes for the basis of a layout. Make a mini of envelopes holding random pictures. Or just make an pretty envelope to hold ATCs or pictures you're waiting to scrap.

Allright, I would love to introduce the fabulous Guest Designer and don't forget to scroll through her amazing work and check out some more awesome news! :)

The very incredible, and talented Miss Kate O' Brien!!! I feel like I say this every GD, BUT her work amazes me! Kate is such a sweetheart and person I love to call my friend. I love her style, because it is so real and that excites me! Love to see real emotions and people behind beautiful art! Thank you so much, Kate, for GDin'g you are so amazing!

Okay. So I'm crazy in love with this project. I had originally made a layout a month or so ago for this prompt, but after seeing her work earlier this week, I HAD to live up to the potential of this prompt! Thanks for inspiring me, Kate!

And here is what Kate has to say about her project!

One of my favorite kinds of mini books to make are envelope minis. I have made several in the past. The envelopes are perfect for tucking in memorabilia, photos, journaling....whatever you can think of! The theme of my mini is "inspired". Different things that are inspiring me right now.I just used plain kraft envelopes for this project. I assigned each envelope a category. Fashion, color, decor, people...etc. I filled each envelope with photos and journaling cards of the different things that are bringing me inspo. I plan to add to it as I find other things that inspire me. I cut up some old Domino magazines, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitter catalogs and printed some of my favorite Flickr photographs. Inspiration is everywhere, if you just take the time to look! Had a ton of fun making this project and want to thank Miss Kara for asking me to guest design!

Now, without further ado!

Insanely awesome, right? I know. I hope it inspires you as much as it did for me!

Thanks again, Kate!

And! Wait there is more.

First I would love to introduce the fabulous Miss Kimberly Brimhall here to work as my co-conspirator. Kim is a crazy-sweet person that I am beyond thrilled to be able to work with. Kimberly Guest Designed back in April and I just had to snatch her up!

She'll be showcasing her awesome projects here most every prompt and she'll be an awesome help to the blog on my end. Yay!

And here is my project.

I am *The Art is Found* pg. 1

I am *The Art is Found* pg. 2

Sorry for the spastically weird scan, don't know what was up with that.

Don't forget to check in back later this week to see Kim's project!

And thank you to all who play along with the prompts, it is SO awesome to see what you all make.

And remember you are welcome to make whatever you'd like. Layout, art journalling, ATC's, mini-albums, home-decor, or just journal on an envelope and call it a day!

Have a great June and don't forget to check back on the 16th, for another great prompt and GD!

Peace.

Kara.

New Prompt. 5-19-2008

Whew! May is flying by quickly, life is so crazy. Lovin' looking at all the awesome stuff from the bags prompt. Awesome stuff. If you ever make something with an older prompt, please share. I really LOVE looking at it, I love that it's inspiring people to be creative and share it. Woot, woot.

So, the next prompt is:

Records!!!

Old records are so cool and I love the nostalgic and vintage appeal they can add to your art projects. I picked up my 45's at a thrift store for 50 cents each. Lots of thrift stores have great assortments of some awesome records.

Feel free to use the cover or "mix it up" with the actual record. Rethink them. I'd love to see some awesome home decor type things. Give a tribute to some of your favorites oldies, or use it as a basis for a layout. Remember, you can make WHATEVER you want. ATC's, art journals, layouts, cards, home decor. Maybe try to make a funky purse, just create some ART.

And! I am so excited and thrilled to announce the lovely Guest Designer for our prompt. The very awesome and talented Tina Aszmus.

Since the beginning of the blog I've really wanted Tina to Guest Design. I am so honored that she agreed. Tina has a gorgeous, classy style. Thanks, Tina!

Her project is SO awesome. Here is what she has to say about it:

Here's what I made with your record challenge. I used 2 record covers that I've had for awhile for the front and back covers. The scrapbook is dedicated to my dad who was and still is an avid music collector. We often exchange mixed cd's of what music we're listening to at the moment. Music is something we always chat about.

AND, here it her project!

Gorgeous, right? Her work just makes me sigh. Awesome.

I took a similar route with my project. I used this awesome, old record. I kept the cover plain because I thought the "oldness" did it justice.

This mini is to keep a collection of my favorite song lyrics.

Song Lyrics Mini *The Art is Found*

Mini *The Art is Found*

I'm hoping to get to a layout sometime soon, so check back for that!

Thanks again to all who encourage and play along, it means so much to me!

Have a fabulous rest of May and check back in June for the next fantabulous prompt and Guest Designer! Woot.

New Prompt 5-5-2008

White Trash Bouquet

AH! I cannot believe it is May, that is SO crazy to me. LOVED all the tags last go-round, so awesome! I'm very excited to introduce the new prompt and Guest Designer! So, without further ado... The new prompt is:

Shopping Bags
You went on a shopping spree last time for the tags, now you can use your bags! Bags are super awesome, you have a lot to work with and they add such great texture. Rethink plastic bags. Go crazy and create ART. And, the Guest Designer for this prompt is the very lovely and awesome, Michelle Ramirez!!!!

Here is what Michelle had to say:

Thrift store shopping is one of my favorite things to do and I use alot of my finds on my projects. I have an Olivia and Kyan who will show up in alot of my art. Married to a hunky and sweet Navy Pilot. Used to be a flight attendant. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love sunshine and anything having to do with Hawaii. Big earrings are my accessory of choice these days. Making mini books is the best. Inspired by flickr at the moment. snacking choice while creating something...Boston Baked Beans.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw her layout, it is fantastically gorgeous! Check it out!

I just LOVE all the sewing and the fun details. Thanks so much, Michelle for Guest Designing! Your work never fails to make me swoon.

Here is my project:

Just Cuz Album *The Art is Found* {create daily}

You can see more of the photos *here*

Okay, I used Forever 21 bags for the cover. I this tutorial, except I used freezer paper. I had good luck the first time 'round just peeling back the freezer paper, but the second time I tried it did not work so well. The 2nd time I just ran it under water for a few minutes and scratched the freezer paper off, I haven't had the chance to try parchment paper, but I think it'll work much better.

Anyhoo...
Thank you so much for the participation last time! Don't forget to check back on the 19th for a very fabulous prompt and Guest Designer. Have a great Monday!
