Cardboard Love

Hey everyone!!!
aw here!
Happy Monday to you - hopefully you aren't having a case of the Mooooondays this morning (as said like the lady in Office Space)...
And if you are - this week's prompt is sure to cheer you up.

We are talking about the ever versatile CARDBOARD.
A million gajillion ways to incorporate it...
So let's find out a bit about our Guest Designer Alex Michiardi - and peep the amazing way she rocked the cardboard prompt....

I feel so honoured to have been asked to guest design for this week prompt. It’s my very first time guest designing! Thank you so much girls (especially Rhi and Kara) for giving me this unique opportunity and for your interest in my work.

Today (the 22nd), Damien and I will be celebrating our 6th anniversary together. So I designed something special for the occasion. I had a lot of fun doing this project! “Cardboard boxes”.
I took a small cardboard box I had. Not very original for the moment… I sewed a zipper on it, layered some paper + Gesso to cover the entire box. I finished by adding a piece of felt + button, and I had my box “6 years” done. Then, to fill this box, I took another cardboard box which I cut into small squares. I assembled them in column by stapling pieces of felt. In total, I have three different columns. I chose some pictures of us and added them in chronological order to the cardboard pieces. I also recycled slide frames that I painted and used as embellishments. In the example, I hang the 3 columns on a bamboo stick, but you can think of other cute ways to display this project.

Have fun!

and last but not least...the TAIF ladies.

Mandi Mandi she's so fine...she's so fine she blows my mind - Hey Mandi! (so original huh?) This amazing piece of goodness will be posted in its entirety in Mandi's portfolio.

File Folders

Hey guys! It's me....Kimmie!

Holy post Batman...we are packed with awesomeness this week!

This week's prompt is:

FILE FOLDERS

And you know the drill...make a scrapbook page, mini album, canvas, or whatever project you'd like using them.

Also this week some of the projects were made with supplies from The Paper Pixie!

We are so excited to announce this week's guest designer:

I couldn't have been more thrilled when Kara asked me to guest design for TAIF. What a talented group of ladies who always inspire and share such wonderful ideas. She asked me to play with file folders (fun!) and I created a mini album highlighting delightful moments from this summer. Using a technique I learned from a friend, I cut 3 file folders in half, put them together so that the tabs show up nicely. I added the happy bits, photos and embellishments, mostly from American Crafts, Hambly, Love Elsie, and Every Jot and Tittle. Then used my paper piercer to poke holes in the middle to hand-stitch little buttons (the ones with 2 holes work best) on the outside to bind it all together. Makes for a fun little mini that brings a smile to my face and hopefully one to those who look at it. Can't wait to see what you all create!

Here is her SUPER take on file folders:

Our other girls will be popping in later with their projects!!

Also, we are proud to announce the cool cool cool Dani Johnston as a permanent TAIF girl.

Her is Dani's about me:

Tell us a little about yourself- twenty three. college student for life (well, it feels like it anyways...). Married to a boy I've known since I was eleven. three furbabies who happen to all be redheaded. part time wedding photographer. really really really crazy about organizing things, except my art space, which I have to have a mess. spending a lot of time lately doing some soul searching and creating myself. that's a biggie for me right now. lover of rainy days, wearing moccasins and comfy beds.

How long have you been creating art?

It's probably cliche for creative people to say as long as they can remember, but it's the truth! I've always loved drawing, coloring, writing, taking photos and just being creative in general and I was always very supported in all my artistic endeavors. I've been in some type of art class most my life and I study art history and photography in college. Creating things has always felt like something I needed to do, I never really question that - although I do question everything else about it! :) I've had my droughts though, and they are the worst.

Your biggest source of inspiration?

Everything! It's surprising to me how every little thing in life has the opportunity to inspire.
My biggest source though, honestly, would have to be magazines and the internet, just because that's usually where my lazy time is spent! Second to that, truly is nature and the natural world. It really does fill my heart and mind every time I'm a little closer to the earth.

Your blog?

I love it. I seriously, just can't get enough of blogging and the blog world.
I'm here: http://danijohnston.typepad.com/dj

Your favorite arty product?

This always changes... but right now I'm addicted to blank journals.... it thrills me to fill them up. Do they count? I hope so, there's something so special to me about having my whole life at the moment recorded in one journal. And then of course the thrill of filling it up and starting a new one!

Your go-to technique or thing you love to do?

Flicking paint makes everything better.
And I love using song lyrics for my journaling..... I find them really powerful.

What is one random fact that you feel the world should know about you?

One of my nicknames is Roo.

So help us welcome her properly:)

This week's RAK is also sponored by OH, Hello Friend Etsy:

You KNOW you want it...so come on and play along...

You guys have been doing AMAZING work and we can not WAIT to see what you come up with this time!

Happy Monday!!
