And yes, I do think the extra e on "the" is quite appropriate, as there is no one quite like Kerry in our little scrapbooking world. Or in the whole world, for that matter. Here's what she has for us this week:

hi everyone! i'm so honored that kara and the taif girls asked me to create this week with on of my absolute favorite vintage items, vintage sheet music.

sigh. i love it.

i use it so much when i create because i adore the faded worn color and the way it adds an immediate feeling of history. for this weeks prompt "sheet music" i created some cut paper flowers out of the sheet music, randomly dipped the edges in paint, added some amazing vintage letters i have collected thrifting and then adhered them to some magnets. then i popped them on two vintage wash boards i have had for awhile. it's the perfect addition to our mantle, and a visual reminder of what i love best.

Sewing Pattern Love

Whether that be the actual transparenty (thats a word, yow) type paper, the cover, the pretty ladies/men/children that advertise the clothing items, or even just inspiration taken from it.

The geometrical lines of the instructions, the sheerness of the material, the step by step directions.

I am so excited to introduce our guest designer this week. She is part of the reason I started "scrapping", I could go on for a very long time of all the things I love about her work, and all the reasons I want her to blog more. But I will refrain, and show you. Amber Skolnick, come on doooooown.

Hi everyone! I am super excited to be the guest for this prompt. I am very inspired by both the blog and the girls in charge of it. For this prompt, I was asked to play around with "sewing patterns". I think the "patterns" add an interesting texture and dimension to a layout. This is something that I would never have thought of. For the "dad and jane" layout, I used the actual pattern, I adhered the pattern to the cardstock and then painted around the edges of it. For the "raggedy ann" layout, I used part of the instructions and some pieces of striped fabric that was leftover from the raggedy ann doll my mom made me. I didn't exactly mean to do a "dad" layout and then a "mom" layout, it just happened that way. I especially didn't mean to "diss" on dad and then tell my mom I loved her in the "doll" layout, but I guess sometimes that's how it goes. Thanks again girls for letting me play!

Whew! You guys blew me away with all you're mad notebook paper skills! Dang.

Okay. Now onto to the good stuff. There is SO much awesome stuff going on here, my mind is going in millions of different directions. Wheeewwweee.

The Prompt is:

Photo as Title

Signs, words, labels surround us all the time. Take advantage of some of those awesome things and use it on your ART! Use a photo as a title for your page. Maybe make a mini of your favorite restraurants using the signs as "titles" for your pages.

This is another prompt where we want you going out and taking a look at the world around you and capturing it with your camera.
Go crazy with sidewalk chalk, "paint" with water, use your Dymo label maker. Take photos.

Take a photo of your favorite food's packaging. Scrap about that.

Maybe take a photo that communicates an idea. Let the art flow from that.

You don't even have to have taken the photo. Pour over catalogs and magazines. Come what may!

Like all TAIF prompts, feel free to intrepet them however you'd like. Maybe just take a photo, if it inspires you. Make a video, a painting, a card, ATC, scrapbook layout, mini, altered decor.

Heck, take photos and fill a frame with it.

Photos as titles. Signs, bumper stickers, advertisements, graffiti...all around us are words and symbols telling us what we should or could do. As I started to look around for photos to use as titles, I also saw backgrounds and elements to use and photographed those too. What emerged was a personal story --driven by some of the most favorite photographs that I have taken over the years-- stacked upon other detail photos all held together by adhesive, tape and journaling. It became a visual narrative that is literal, unexpected, magical, straightforward and complex...just like me!

Notebook Paper

Hey guys! It's Mandi here!

If you're anything like me, you've got lots of scraps of paper lying around in piles. Sometimes reminders, sometimes lists, sometimes, uh... bills... or notes from friends. This week's challenge is to use the abundance of notebook paper, that, let's face it, we all have. You could layer paper from different pads, leave the frou-frous on the edge, rip the paper, paint over the paper, or just leave the lovely lines show through. If you're really feeling *green* you could reuse paper that has already been written on. In my layout, I used a note from one of my scrappy friends. You decide what you want to do with the notebook paper, and post a link here when you've finished.

On another note, we've got some big news this week at TAIF! We are very happy to have the incredibly talented, witty, and super cute Ashley Wren join our team! Her picture should be up there on the left with the rest of us very soon!

And we are also extremely excited to have the amazingly creative Kristina Contes join us this week only as our guest designer! She is one of my favorite designers and is a very inspiring artist.

"notebook paper...ahh the lovely lines. when i was thinking about this prompt, so many ideas came to mind. vintage ledger. holes. frays. so many options, but i became really focused on the texture created when you rip them from their spirals. turning something you would find on the floor in a classroom (or maybe not anymore, damn am i getting old) or stuck to your shoe into art. thus finding art. thus busting out the gel matte medium. rock."
